BOOK PROJECT - COMING SOON! 
VETERANS OF THE KOREAN CONFLICT

    The Ionia County Genealogical Society is compiling information and photos about the men and women from Ionia County, Michigan who served during the Korean War. We would like to invite anyone who has a member of their family that served during this time to be a part of this book. To be eligible, the veteran must have been a resident of Ionia County, Michigan at any time during their lifetime. We are seeking information on ALL veterans, living or deceased.

The Ionia County Genealogical Society is excited and proud to present  "North Plains Cemetery" which is now available to interested persons for a cost of $20 per book.

The book contains the following:
-A list of veterans buried at North Plains Cemetery
-A list of perpetual care graves
-A list of names with locations, age, birth and death dates, and lot owners
-A comment section which gives the details of the etchings or pictures on the stones, notes from the sexton's records, and a description of the stone (single or double stone,etc)

The index to the 1881 History of Ionia and Montcalm Counties is complete and now available. The all-name index is hardbound and costs $17 plus $3 for shipping. This book is the same fine quality as the 1881 History of Ionia and Montcalm Counties.

The book has 504 pages that have page numbers, but an additional 100 plus pages of photographs etc. that do not have page numbers, bringing the total pages to past 600. The Cemetery Committee has been busy working on updating the cemetery records for Ionia County. We are currently seeking people who can transcribe records for us. If you are available to help on this, please contact the society at ioniacogensoc@yahoo.com



Members are working on indexing the names in the Odessa Township Tax Rolls.  Three years are completed so far and will soon be published by the society.  These records begin in 1877.  We are looking for people who are willing to work on other township tax records for Ionia County.  Contact Pam at pkswiler@voyager.net if you are interested in doing part of this project.

If you have any obits that you would like to donate copies of to the society, please send them to the society to the attention of Marilyn


Copying and indexing of funeral cards

If you have funeral cards related to Ionia County and would like to donate them, please send them to the ICGS at the address above. They are being indexed and on file at the society's library."

Volunteers are needed to work on records from the entire county


Church Records - Church Records are wanted - (Memberships, birth records, marriage, christening, funeral, etc.) Check your local church records and send us what you find! (Ionia County only, please)
