John C. Brudi
1827-1882

Mr. Brudi was born in Germany, came to America when a young man, was shipwrecked off the coast of Rhode Island, but happily reached shore in safety.  He was poor, but very industrious, coming to Byron Township, he was able to purchase a tract of land in the wilderness, and was classed among the pioneers.  He had an old-fashioned style dwelling, but he remodeled and repaired it.  He cleared up his land, cultivated it thoroughly, and prospered.

In politics he was a democrat.  In religion he was a Lutheran, and in this faith he died in 1882.  His wife, Mary Geiling, was also a native of his country.  Their daughter, Dora, married Junius McKenney.

(Taken from Jaarsma pg. 29-30)

He was 55 when he died.  Mary was 53.  They are buried in Boynton Cemetery.

He was a veteran of the Civil War and member of Post #302.
