MIGENWEB OFFICIAL NOTICES AND DISCLAIMERS
History and Growth of the MIGenWeb Project
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project, now known as the Kentucky GenWeb Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. The MIGenWeb Project is an outgrowth of that original Kentucky project for the state of Michigan and also began in 1996.
County Adoption and Volunteering
Contact the coordinator for the appropriate county if you have a desire to add your data to that county site. If the county in which you are interested does not have a page, or appears to be up for adoption, and you wish to participate, please contact Jan Cortez, the Michigan Coordinator, and request the sample web page be sent to you.
