Frederick Harris was a veteran of the Civil War. He enlisted from Tallmadge, MI, as private, on August 15, 1862, age 18, and served in Co. B, 5^th MI Cavalry. He mustered out on June 10, 1865, at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Frederick was a prisoner of war during his military service.

Frederick is buried in Advent Cemetery in Wright Township, Ottawa County, MI.
