Daniel Mills was a Civil War veteran. He enlisted as private on September 3, 1862, at Grand Rapids, age 22, and served in Co. B, 21^stMI Infantry. He was promoted to full Corporal on May 1, 1865, and was mustered out on June 8, 1865 at Washington D. C. He was a prisoner of war during his military service.

Daniel was born December 22, 1839, in Ohio, and died of apoplexy March 1, 1918, age 78-2-7. He is buried in Advent Cemetery, Wright Township, Ottawa County, MI, according to his MI Death Certificate. (Seeking Michigan)
