Death of Mrs. Sarah VandenBerg

Another old resident of Grand Haven crossed the dark river this morning.

Mrs. Sarah Vanden Berg passed peacefully away at the ripe old age of 76 years, 9 months, and 3 days. She had been ill for sometime with Bright’s Disease. The end was peaceful and in death she bore a quiet, contended look.

Mrs., Vanden Berg was a native of the Netherlands and emigrated to this country with her late husband, Louis Vanden Berg in 1847, arriving in Grand Haven, August 20, 1847. The trip across the Atlantic consumed over 60 days.

Mrs. Vanden Berg has always been a home body and very seldom was away from her home. Of late years she has resided with her son Henry Vanden Berg on Fulton St., where her death occurred.

Funeral will occur on Wednesday, May 1st from the First Reformed church at two o’clock p.m.

The following children survive Mrs. Vanden Berg: Wm. Vanden Berg, Mrs. John Luikens, Mrs. A. Kiel, Mrs. O. L. Ball of Grand Rapids and Mr. Henry Vanden Berg.
