Death of Mr. Josiah Van Loo
Josiah Van Loo, one of the old Holland residents of the city, died this morning after an illness of nine weeks with stomach trouble and a complication of diseases. Death had been expected for some days.
Mr. Van Loo was a native of Zeeland, the Netherlands, and was 76 years, 7 months, and 14 days old. He came to America 31 years ago the coming October. In 1869 he came to Grand Haven from Big Rapids and has been a resident of this place ever since. His wife died in the early 60’s in the Netherlands and he never remarried.
Mr. Van Loo was a thoroughly Christian man, and a member of the First Christian Reformed church. He had many friends among his towns people.
He following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. J. Meeuwsen, Zeeland; Mrs. C. Van Loo, Zeeland; Wm. Van Loo, Grand Haven; John Van Loo, Grand Rapids; Peter Van Loo, Mrs. Wierernga, and Andrew Van Loo, Grand Haven.
Funeral will take place Friday at 2 p.m. from the First Christian Reformed church
