We have chosen to join a grassroots movement to protect and preserve our
family histories for our nation and the generations to come. In doing so we are
now subject to those "laws" which govern public groups. Guidelines are necessary
for clarifying expectations, both before an individual becomes a volunteer and
once they are already in place as a County Coordinator.
Web Page GUIDELINES:
Each MIGenWeb county site is REQUIRED to have all of the following:
- A link to the USGenWeb homepage (on
main page)
<a href="http://www.usgenweb.org/">USGenWeb</a> Any red links you can copy the
coding.
- A link to the
MIGenWeb
homepage (on main page)
<a href="http://www.migenweb.net/index.html">MIGenWeb</a>
- An e-mail link to the
MI State
Coordinator (on main page)
<a href="mailto:statecoordinator@migenweb.com">Jan Cortez</a>
- The only acceptable method of writing the names in
reference to the USGenWeb
project and/or MIGenWeb project pages is: USGenWeb (where CAPITAL letters are
used on the U, S, G and W and lowercase letters are used on the e, n, e, and b.)
MIGenWeb (where CAPITAL letters are used on the M, I, G and W and lowercase
letters are used on the e, n, e, and b.)
- A place to ‘post’ queries.
- This can be handled with an email link to you
and posted manually on your county site or by using some sort of form if
you have the resources. County sites on the migenweb.net server do have
form capabilities. Contact Pat Hamp (above) for details. Another option is a link to the
Rootsweb Message Boards for your county.
- A surname page: Most of the programs for
query management will also handle surnames such as
Query Management Page.
- A link to the
"Disclaimer
Page" which has the one paragraph description of the goal of USGenWeb as
well as USGenWeb links
<a href="http://www.migenweb.net/officialnotices.htm">"Disclaimer
Page"</a>
- A County resource with lists of ways and places
people can do research for the county and lookups page.
